The sun moves, shadows change; there is only a short period of time that an artist has to capture the shifts of light and color when painting outdoors - but it is this very desire to distill the energy and freshness of nature that drives the plein air painter. Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters was formed to bring together artists who share this passion.

TWO TREES DOWN, 11x14, oil by Sharon Benner
Veterans Day and its 70 degrees in Hanover. These two trees were laying in Lake Marburg and I thought the scene was interesting with the back lighting and the reflections. This is what I call a truism, as I painted it quickly to capture the light, shadows and reflections in a loose, impressionistic style.

Sharon, I just love the colors you used here. It's a quiet and lovely painting.
